Throughout 2023 at the end of each month the Scholarly Development (Research) team will provide a snapshot of relevant scholarly research support news and events for the coming month. 

 

Researcher@Library Webinars registrations open

Registrations are now open for Researcher@Library webinars being held from July to October. Check out what’s coming up in the next few months on the Researcher Training page, with topics including open access, research metrics, publishing options, processing research images, and digitisation techniques.  

The first webinar of the program, Getting Started with Advanced Library Research, will be held on 26 July 2023.  Designed for graduate researchers and new academic staff, it will cover the library and research support services that are essential for advanced research at Melbourne.  Find out more and register here: https://go.unimelb.edu.au/od2s

Visualise Your Thesis 2023 Grand Final 

Come along to a showcase from the finalists of the University of Melbourne’s Visualise Your Thesis competition, and celebrate as this year’s winner is announced! The Grand Final will be held on 13 July 2023 at the Melbourne Connect Launchpad, with nibbles and networking included.

Digital Skills: Hackathon & Showcase 

The Digital Skills team are hosting two events in July: a hackathon to meet others using digital skills/tools at the University of Melbourne, and a showcase of the tools and workshops on offer to Melbourne researchers.

Digital Skills Training Hackathon

Come to the Digital Skills Training Hackathon to swap notes, get help, or learn new techniques in programming and data science in a social environment. Skill-share, troubleshoot and meet others using digital skills/tools (R, Python, NVivo, LaTeX, MATLAB, etc.) at this in-person event. Bring your laptop or tablet, and a cup/mug for the coffee machine.

Digital Skills Showcase

This webinar will cover the digital research tools and skills workshops on offer to researchers at the University of Melbourne. The showcase is a chance to connect with the research community, help you discover how to collect and analyse data, visualise your research and work smarter not harder. All welcome!
