What’s different? (Kripa)
One week into second year and I’m wondering if there’s anything different from the previous year.
- Well, one thing that I’ve noticed is the increase in the amount of students on campus. I walk around the union house and in front of the bookshop as well as the Balilieu Library with surprise. Selling my books weren’t hard but trying to find my buyer amongst the crowd was. Maybe it’s all the excitement of starting uni. I do feel happy for those who get into uni; I was just like them.
- We don’t have Alloc8 anymore, which I think is fair enough considering that we aren’t first years anymore that get the clashes corrected by the system. I did depend on that but now, we get to choose which classes we want to go to, even if there’s no clash. So, that’s good!
- The faculty of Biochemistry has been demolished. I feel more disappointed at the fact that one of my subjects is under that faculty! Now it’s been relocated all the way to the Medical building, which means I have do more sprinting than usual.
- I really do miss the lecture theatres I used to go to, especially the Copland theatre with its comfortable seats. However, some of my lectures have come back to the law theatres, which I do adore.
- A sad news that I received on the first day was that printing is no more free in our faculty. I guess some did exploit the service over the limit. I have learnt not to take free services for granted.
- In this semester, I get more free time than last year which is fantastic. Last year was very hectic, having to go to the Burnley campus and Parkville in one day. Looks like I’m being rewarded this year.
- Labor Day. As usual, NOT a uni holiday. I still remember last year’s Labor Day with trams being cancelled and me having to walk from Flinders to uni. With that in mind, my dad agreed to drop and here I am at uni on time. That was a great morning walk, though. It’s so clear in my memory like it was yesterday. Talk about time flying by!
Till next time
Public transport is the worst thing about going to uni on a public holiday! I’m not so fussed with having to go to uni, but having to wait 40 minutes for a bus is frustrating!
