Trip Subjects (Georgie)
At the risk of looking like a complete loser with nothing better to do than blog, I shall post for the third time in a row. Suzanne, I thought we were in this together?!
So it is hot Hot HOT! And I am sick of it. But the up side of this is that my mum has grown to hate the heat so much that she has conceded to getting some proper air conditioning when we move into the new place.
On another note, there is a subject in semester 2 called ‘Exploring Central Australia’ and it is a history subject on Aboriginal Australia. It has a week trip to, you guessed it, central Australia in the mid semester break. Originally I thought I couldn’t do this one becuase I was doing the American trip subject between semester 1 and 2 and I thought that was when this one was run as well, but now that it’s in semester 2, I’m thinking that I can do it.
I’m not entirely sure at the moment, so has anyone done this one? Or know someone that has done it? Or has travelled to Central Australia?
I’m umming and ahhhing at the moment because I’m already doing a subject called ‘On country Learning’ which is an Indigenous politics subject that I go on a trip to the Murray for in a week or so. Can I justify both trips? I think they’d both really be great, but I’m still not sure about the second one.
Hope all is well and everyone is beating the heat.
Cheerio.
We _are_ in this together — I’ll post too!
Also, I went to Central Australia once with my family and some American relatives once when I was 12, and all I really remember is that my cousins and I spent the whole trip annoying our parents with the ‘999 bottles of beer on the wall’ song (lots of driving – we finished the song several times). But it was a pretty cool place to be – it could pass for Mars, all the red rocks and no life and all, and there were some nifty termite nests.
