Philosophy Postgraduate Group

The Philosophy Postgraduate Group (PPG) is a student society dedicated to the promotion of philosophy at the postgraduate level at the University of Melbourne. The main function of the PPG is to administer the Tuesday afternoon colloquium series – a forum where students can get feedback on their work, enhance their professional development and contribute to a sense of community within the discipline. With support from both SHAPS and the GSA (Graduate Student Association), the PPG runs additional workshops throughout the year, usually ahead of major events like the Australasian Association of Philosophy Conference. As part of our commitment to student welfare, we also host a number of social events each semester and do our best to ensure that every student has access to the resources and opportunities they are entitled to under the terms of their enrolment. Membership is open to all postgraduates at the University of Melbourne with an interest in philosophy, regardless of their departmental affiliation or philosophical orientation. We also consider applications from graduate students at other universities.

Our committee for 2022/23 includes:

President: Henry Dobson

Treasurer: Callum Alpass

Secretary: Eliana Horn

Colloquium Officers: Sun Liu & George Wood

Events Officer: Rob Wardrop

General Committee: Kelly Herbison, Emily Griffith, Macey Allison & Ali Al-Shammary
