Death in a Time of Corona
The COVID-19 pandemic is dramatically changing how family and friends around the world can mourn and memorialise loved ones who pass away – from funerals limited to small numbers, to morgues, crematoria and cemeteries having to suspend routine processes in the face of unprecedented demand. The DeathTechNetwork – an interdisciplinary research group studying death technologies – have launched Death in a Time of Corona, a project that aims to collect a collaborative account of changing death culture during this pandemic.
They are calling for contributions on how COVID-19 is changing deathcare, including end-of-life and mortuary care, funerals, and memorialisation. If you work in the deathcare sector, or have recently experienced a death, you can help this research group understand how COVID-19 is changing deathcare, funerals, and memorialisation worldwide by contributing to this collaborative, open research platform.
