hi.

Hi, I’m Jaclyn from Canada and I am currently studying science at the University of Melbourne. I live on the sunny side of a residential college called International House where I am particularly fond of the vegetarian menu and the large variety of trees in the courtyard. If I were to summarize myself I’d say I am completely unremarkable in every way but I try not to let get me down. Though I am quite dedicated to science and the natural world, I am a child of the 21st century and television, movies and the computer are among my favourite things though I also enjoy most forms of music, visual art and literature. I intend to write a longer entry detailing my favourite forms, my courses, my uni life and why exactly I think Melbourne is so beautiful and I do, but for now I’m just saying “hi.”

  1. Hey, Im a canadian as well who has been accepted to melbourne for their JD (law) 2009 intake. i hope youll do a blog that will give some insight to international students on what to know and do before coming, what kind of housing options are available that are reasonable (maybe something like a review of the international house?), and any other tips and tricks that are useful (especially for a canadian) to know.

    thanks

  2. Hi Jaclyn! I look forward to reading your blog. Glad you are finding Melbourne beautiful so far. I am rather fond of this city myself 🙂

  3. Hi guys

    Hi Jolly
(If you ever return to this again, it has been months and months)
Congratulations. I arrived in Melbourne less than a months after graduating from high school my preparations were very rushed. I think it has worked out because Australia is surprisingly similar to Canada. When I chose a college I did very little research. What I assumed, I wasn’t wrong to assume this, was that all the colleges would be very similar. They are but I wouldn’t necessarily choose IH if I was to do it again. It’s the small differences that make one college a better choice for one person. Hope that makes a tiny bit of sense. Generally I found the visa people, the college people and the MU people very laid-back and reasonable.
    Hope that helps!
I’ll try to be helpful when I’m writing a blog as well.
