To attend or not to attend. That is yet another question.

It is a delicious time of the year, and also one where I would normally get two weeks off, not a lousy, measly one week.

It is now the last day of the break, and I’m back on the ole University wagon again tomorrow.

I have accomplished nothing.

This wouldn’t be such a bad thing, as I got all my assignments done before the break started, but yesterday I realised that there is a mid semester test for biology. It’s only worth 10% (only… dooom dooooom doooooooom.) so maybe i shouldn’t stress about it too much. I am anyway, since it’s kinda the first assessable test I’ve done at the Uni. Meep!

I decided to come blog about it instead of actually studying…

I’ve missed a couple of lectures in Biology. I don’t condone it, and I try not to do it, but of all the lectures I have they’re the easiest to miss… I do find them interesting, when I’m paying attention. And I shouldn’t miss them, I didn’t do year 12 Biology. Maybe it’s because Biol is wedged in between Chemistry and Calculus. Maybe I’m a lazy person. Maybe I prefer listening to the lecture on Lectopia. Maybe I’m just a badass, living on the edge. *snicker.*

Speaking of which, has anyone decided whether it’s better to attend the lecture or to listen to it later on?

PROS (of listening to lectures on Lectopia)

– the ability to pause and do look up a word/do something else for ages until you remember you were in the middle of a lecture.

-the ability to adjust the volume (and not having to tell the OBNOXIOUS DICKS BEHIND YOU THAT NOT ALL OF US ARE TOTALLY AWESOME AT BIOL AND CAN AFFORD TO BE WATCHING WHAT SOUNDS SUSPICIOUSLY LIKE A PORNO DURING THE LECTURE. Gah.)

– lectures! in bed! on the couch! wearing whatever! not stuck in uncomfortable seats! not next to anyone! huzzah!

-the replay button.

-remixing the lecture and making your lecturer sound like a chipmunk. brilliant.

CONS of missing a lecture

– you may never get around to listening to it. this is very likely.

– you can’t see what your lecturer is pointing at. or which slide you’re meant to be looking at.

– you can’t play hangman with the person beside you. (even if my word is always whatever the slide title is. i suck at hangman)

– you were probably procrastinating during the lecture time. stop reading comics! even if it is a good comic. even if it is the cliffhanger. oh damn Y: The Last Man is good. EVERYONE SHOULD READ IT.

-if you’re the type to feel guilty about missing a lecture, you will.

– the ability to pause and do look up a word/do something else for ages until you remember you were in the middle of a lecture.

NOW IT IS STUDY TIME.

I recently discovered that there is actually a screen capture version of the lectures on lectopia. I was overjoyed, until I had to spend 30mins working out how to download and play the video. When things like this happen lectopia swallows up my precious time.

Personally I say, attend lectures, even if it’s a boring lecture at least you can make physics jokes to the person sitting next to you.
