Blogging Exams.
Monday: before my first exam.
My grandparents have left to go on holiday, leaving me in charge of the house on my own and UGH I HAVE TO STUDY I’M LITERALLY GOING TO FAIL CHEMISTRY WHY WHY WHY ARE YOU LEAVING ME NOW?! So I decided that I would rope in my boyfriend to look after me. Great idea!
Hahahah, nope. He became my sole source of distraction.
“Hey Shannon. I’m hungry.”
“ME TOO. Let’s go into the city and get some PANCAKES FROM THE PANCAKE PARLOUR! Maybe we should work out where the Royal Exhibition Building is? Maybe we’ll have a look at the Titanic Exhibition while we’re there!!!”
*both cheer.* For reference, the CBD is over an hour away from where I live.
Studied very little.
Tuesday: First day of exams. Two exams today: Calculus and Japanese.
It is 6:30 am. I have to be up now to get to my first exam at 9. I am dead tired. Slap on some make-up to hide large circles. Makes matters worse. Take it all off. Look at clock. Am going to miss bus. Literally roll boyfriend out of bed and yell at him “MAKE ME A SANDWICH.” I’m kidding; I said porridge.
Half finish porridge. Throw in water bottle. Carrying notes for Calc (and Japanese) knowing that it’s far too late to learn all the necessary formulas. Realise I will be late for bus. There is no bus coming after this one for another half hour. Not good. Leave house swearing and running very fast.
Text boyfriend apologetically.
Make surprisingly good time to the first exam. The stress in the Calc students (although there was two different subjects having an exam on, you can always spot a Calc student.) is thick enough to be visible. Throw bag in massive shipping crate outside, prays that MP3 Player will not be stolen. Spends 10 minutes finding seat amongst 2700 ish seats. Finds seat. Sits. Realises does not have pencil. Swears loudly, runs out to bag.
Exam very stressful. Have not really studied Calc. Only know some formulas – haven’t done any questions at all on the newest topic. I have done Spec before (badly though, since I’m kinda re-doing it in Calc 1). Makes up some whacky math equations.
Begins to blog how I’m feeling to examiner, once I’ve done all the questions, waiting for a miracle. Not finding one, leaves half an hour early. Oh well…
Goes back to Uni sadly, and buys Kebab. Oh Kebab, you make everything better.
2 hours later: another exam. Japanese now. Because of the really rather weird levels of Japanese I am in Japanese for beginners – even though I’m really not. I just don’t know much kanji. A very easy exam. Left happily with an hour left in a two hour exam.
Went back home in an exceptional mood – exams aren’t so bad, even if you’re screwing up.
Did half an hour of Biol study. Made Mac&Cheese with boyfriend. So romantic.
Wednesday: Exam day 2, Biology exam today!
Get up at 6:30 again. In better mood. Not good – just better. Had to sprint to catch train today. Then had to wait 20 minutes on board, as some passenger on a train ahead was “sick.” Assumed someone had jumped, felt like it was an ominous sign. Had to sprint down Grattan Street to get to exam, with 5 minutes before the commencement of exam.
Biology not so bad. Drew a flamingo, hopes examiner likes them. Also noted that it was well worth cramming on the bus on the way to exam – one slide I was staring at was in the extended response. Left with 40 minutes remaining in the exam.
Met up with boyfriend, went and saw The Prince of Persia at the IMAX cinema. Much impressed with size of screen/movie. Usually when I love a game, I’ll loathe the movie. But this wasn’t awful!
Tonight I need to study Chemistry very badly. Study Chemistry? Did someone just suggest I should dye my hair instead?! GREAT IDEA.
I did that, and then paced the house for a full hour.
Did not study Chemistry at all.
Should have.
Thursday: last day of exams! …CHEMISTRY EXAM.
Wake up 6:30. Feel literally sick. Woke up boyfriend and vented. Vented for too long, should have studied instead. Noticed time – going to be late. Nearly forgot calculator – disaster avoided! Sprints out door, no breakfast.
Found Safeway, bought the nearest Up&Go liquid breakfast I found. Banana flavour. Ew. Drank it anyway, doing weird jogging/drinking dance on my way to the Royal Exhibition Building. Eyes puffy, muscles aching from all the on/off sprinting I’ve been doing lately.
Get to exam, find seat. Sat with head down on exam paper for a few minutes trying to catch my breath.
Exam is long, agonising. Staring up at the pretty interior of REB. I wish I was you, lady, floating around in the air holding some kind of branch. Hey that branch looks like an alkane! Hahahahahah! Oh right, the exam…
Finished to the best of my ability. Have worked out I need about half of the marks to pass. Not sure I even answered half. Left with half an hour to go, trudging away defeated. Boyfriend waiting for me outside exam. Am very distant for a few hours. We go eat more pancakes. Pancakes make everything better.
I really hope I passed Chemistry. Does anyone know when we get back our results?
I’ve concluded that I’m not a big fan of maths, even though I used to be good at it. And I sure wouldn’t be anywhere near Chemistry if it wasn’t necessary for pretty much every course I’m interested in…
The exams weren’t bad at all. It’s good that they were over so quickly for me – I’d hate to think of what I’d be like if I had any exam after Chem. I’m still borderline shell-shocked from it.
this post has inspired to start studying hard of exams again.
For that, I thank you.
hope you passed all your subjects this semester
Whoa you had all your exams in the first week? I’m bunging around for a week now, wondering how much I really need to study for my last exam that isn’t until next thursday.
