Ramblings of a Bemused First Year (Part 4 – The 3am Rant) (Nae)

Don’t judge me by the time this was posted.

It’s 3am.

And I’m still awake …

Yup.

Should probably sleep …

Meh.

That I believe is the sleeping pattern which we are all to be accustomed to, but when I have to get a 7.30 train to get to Uni by 9 at 3 days a week [Yes I have a bitch of a commute] and get up at 6.15am, it’s not that great. 😐

I would actually normally go to sleep around M/N, but today after a rather exhausting adventure in the city I feel asleep at 9pm and woke up at 1am. Yep and now I am screwed for sleep tonight. 😐

Anyway basically this has been my O week.

Monday: Wasn’t part of O week = boredom broken up by a 3.5 hour shift, earning $40 that I won’t get for another week, then more boredom.

Tuesday: Slight glimmer of excitement which was completely eradicated by my extremely unenthusiastic host group. When do I get to join the clubs?

Wednesday: The Arts lecture thing in that hall where we were made to sit on the floor in a group of like 300, which I personally haven’t done since I was 11 and in Grade 6.

The presentation was good, until they started making me participate. I am not a people person, basically if I want to meet people I will approach you of my own accord or I’ll talk to you if you come up to me with an opening statement of something other than “do you have the first one on the sheet done yet?” And I really don’t see the point in making friends with just ‘Arts’ people who don’t do any of your subjects. So seriously that signature thing, PAINFUL [We had a paper with random stuff on it that you had to find someone to initial].

So basically I appreciated the whole presentation thing, the Arts faculty had put a lot of effort into making the video, but yeah not a fan of the very forced ‘lets make an instant friend because it’s as easy as making instant coffee’. UmYeahNo.

WHEN DO I GET TO JOIN THE CLUBS?

Thursday: It is technically 3am Thursday morning but I shall update soon of my hopefully positive clubs and societies experience.

I am actually excited for tomorrow 😀

I realise now that my entire post has kind of a very negative spin on it, and well that’s probably because since the start of the week all I have wanted to do is join clubs, which happens tomorrow, YAY!

I’m sure many other people had a great day at the carnival etc, so listen to their positive accounts and ignore me, I will probably post an annoying hyper and positive post about the clubs tomorrow or Friday to balance out this venting post 😛
