A Rant and a Half (Georgie)

At the moment I feel like I’m drowning in a sea of essays and the lack of sleep means I can’t get to the surface – arghh!

I’m just looking at the categories that you pick to put your blog in and one of them is: ‘balancing uni and life’ and it feels like that is a complete and utter myth! I’m working 3 days a week and getting up at 6:30 4 mornings a week and then staying up late at night drinking red bull and v and trying to finish the 4 essays I have due in the next two weeks.

On top of that I’m trying to get everything organised for my exchange and so I have money worries hanging over my head and we don’t find out if we get any money from melb uni for ages.

And I know in the scheme of things, this is all nothing and that I don’t have to worry about living out of home yet and I’m lucky to have a good job and be studying a course that I love, but just right now, it feels like there’s a massive tunnel and I am yet to see the light.

The other thing pissing me off at the moment is that I’m working like crazy, and have been for the past year and a bit, to earn enough money to be eligible for youth allowance and in the end I’ll only get it for half of my course (one and a half years). Very frustrating when I wish I could concentrate more on my subjects and I want to get good enough marks to get me into post grad law.

Arghh!

So just a little bit of complaining from me tonight.

Cheers,

Georgie

  1. I can immediately relate to the phrase “lack of sleep”.

Put it simply, if I can lie down peacefully somewhere, I’d be on my way to the clouds in just a few seconds. ^^

I have never looked forward to the weekends as much in my previous years.

But I guess I have to cope with it. The fun I have at uni does recoup this bad experience in a way. Hope it works out for you, too. =]

  2. Totally feel you.
I am drowning in work right now too..and it’s always the case that everything happens at the worst possible times! I have so many mid-semesters / assignments right now but I’ve got my casual job hanging over my head a dear friend from Europe turning up on my doorstep, plus trying to organise my July Europe trip plus club stuff! ARGH!!!

    It’s good to vent sometimes.

Good luck with everything. It is all worth it in the end (still saying that after 2 years of uni so far!)

  3. me too.
but i guess we have to piortise. i am skipping lectures to finish my property essays.
but make sure you eat healthy and live healthily, This will help your efficiency and the quality of the work, especially essay.
right now all i worry is essay and sleep.
bye the way, georgie, you should know that if you can handle 4 art essays, you can handle any law essays. so see it as training.
