Canadia (Georgie)
So, a very quick post before I head off for dinner and attempt to dry my hair without a hairdryer.
I’m in Canada! And it’s great. There is an excess of short hair and baseball cap wearing guys and in Montreal, there seems to be a severe shortage of guys t-shirts as I think I was at the beach last time I saw this many half naked men. There are also heaps of bikes here – which is awesome.
I spent about a week and a half with my ex-housemate Mary Ellen in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. It was awesome to catch up with her and it made me miss Ireland a lot. Then popped over to Ottawa, which was very cool as a political/history major as it’s the capital and they have parliament houses and some insane museums.
Took a quick bus to Montreal and by chance got here on Sainte Jean Baptiste Day, which was awesome! And such lovely weather I went down to the Quays to listen to music in french for the whole afternoon.
The hostel I’m in at the moment in Montreal is also really great. The staff are so friendly, have some great tips and I’ve met some awesome people. I’m actually about to go grab a free dinner that the staff are cooking.
And tonight, in just a few hours actually, I am off on an eight hour long bus ride to Boston where I start ‘Searching for the American Dream’ tomorrow – I shall let you know if I find it. It’ll be great to meet up with the rest of the Melbourne Uni group, especially as I’ve got two friends doing it. It’ll be nice to see some familiar faces and where no one will make fun of my accent.
Enjoy your holidays everyone!
