this may sound like a silly question, but hey – if they’ve taught you one thing in school its “if you’ve got a question chances are many other people have that same querie” or something along those lines..
Is there any place around Parkville where one can fill up on a little free liquid (ie water)? I’ve come across no drinking taps & i’m starting to feel that my quest is pointless.
Does anyone know where the drinking taps are, or indeed if there are any at all?

I encountered one yesterday evening on the second floor of UH, just outside the Rowdy. My friend just randomly turned around and started filling up his water bottle, and I was like, wha— ? Never noticed it until then either.
And that’s about what I’ve seen so far with regard to free H2O on campus. What a pity actually.
There are bathrooms in practically every building (check stairwells).
You can fill up from the tap there, since apparently we have the world’s most drinkable water.
Kewl.. I was actually pondering (big word =).. I think so) over the same thing.. Its quite silly to buy water.. And its kinda painful to carry a big full waterbottle makes the damn bag heavier.. So now I can carry a half full bottle.. not so painful.. and refill it.. At the Rowdy. 🙂
1. ground floor Architecture bldg.
2. ground floor Union House, near that convenience store (forgot the name) next to a vending machine.. dunno if it’s still there though
3. the new Law Building… there’s one near GM15
4. level 2 Arts Centre… quite near Harold White theatre (?) and the lounge area… I reckon it’s also next to a vending machine
5. basement Baillieu, near the photocopiers… although it’s more like a wash basin than a drinking fountain
6. Melbourne unfortunately uses A-grade water even in toilets, unless stated otherwise by certain establishments in their toilet facilities, so you could basically refill your bottle from the taps there
Our use of A-grade water everywhere contributes to both the low water levels in the dams and the high sanitary levels of practically every artificially implemented water source in the state… Dilemma.
Hi, I guess most of the options have already been listed, but there’s also a drinking fountain just outside the ERC library (near the corner, facing Grattan St) 😀
There’s one just inside the chemistry building. Walk in, go straight ahead and you can’t miss it. There are also several inside and outside (around the back) the sports centre.

Stumbled on another one just this week! ERC ground floor near the toilets, leading to the Charles Pearson theatre.
Somehow, this whole where-can-I-get-water matter feels like a version of ‘Where’s Wally/Waldo?’
Anyways, it would be great if there’s one near the South Lawn area…
