Searching for the American Dream

Well hello again, how kind of you to join us.

So, Gianina, my miraculous timetable is due to a couple of difference things. I’m doing an internet subject for the Global Issues Program I am completing concurrently with my degree, which means I have no hours for that subject. And I also did a summer subject called On Country Learning (a brilliant subject that I highly recommend to everyone) which involved a week long trip up near Echuca/Moama. So all my hours are done for that subject and I just have to hand in a couple of essays for it. Hence, my 5.5 hours per week and the envy of my brother who is doing Civil Eng/Comm and a diploma in Spanish.

So, you ask, what’s going on with me? Well my head keeps buzzing with all the stuff I have to do and I had a nightmare last night about being back in high school and having to do quadratics and chemistry.

Am getting a bit nerbous about my trip to the Philippines as it is only 2 weeks away now, but am getting really excited about going to the US for my history subject Searching for the American Dream. I just confirmed my flight dates and I will now be over there for 6 weeks. 2 weeks before the subject starts because I am lucky enough to hand in all my essays on the first day of exams, then 3 weeks for the actual subject and then a week after before we come back for semester 2.

I got a facebook message yesterday from my very excited Canadian ex-flat mate from uni in Dublin who I will luckily be able to go over to Canada to visit at the start of my trip. I have however, recently realised that I leave for the Philippines inĀ  2 weeks and then am only back for 3 weeks before I leave for the US. Phwoar! Am feeling a little stressed and wondering how I will get all my essays done.

So, I think that shall be all for now. Too roo and below is a little update of some not so interesting stuff.

Reading: I actually just finished In My Skin by Kate Holden, which was so interesting and really well written. But I am currently reading Down to the Crossroads: On the trail of the 2008 US Election by Guy Rundle, an Aussie guy. I was worried it would be a bit dry, but it is very interesting so far and is hopefully helping me in preparation for my trip to the US.

Watching: Skins! I just finished the second season and bawled my eyes out. So now, until I grab hold of the third season, I am back to re-watching Gilmore Girls and Friends.

Just saw 17 Again at the movies with a couple of girlfriends. While we had to suffer the embarrassment of going to a cinema full of young teenage girls, the gorgeous Zac Efron was completely worth it

Listening to: Taylor Swift on repeat when I am writing an essay and my favourite Disney songs when I remember to charge and bring my mp3 player.
