A Jumbled Post (Georgie)
Well hello again.
It’s third week back, and I thought it about time to make post. Make a post? Perhaps write a post. Uni is, as alway, awesome. I was a little worried before I came back about the expectations of second year arts and the fact that we’re in tutes with 3rd 4th 5th and 6th year students, but so far all is well. I’ve decided to do a double major in politics and history, which I’m fairly stoked about because they are so bloody interesting!
Subjects for this semester:
Holocaust and Genocide
Public Policy
Terrorism: Shifting Paradigms (has a fantastic lecturer whose accent I am yet to work out…)
Australian Foreign Policy (course content is great, but the lecturer is not the best)
I had a relatively good summer. I worked a whole lot, at Angus and Robertson and a law firm. I quit the law firm before christmas and was still gtting enough shifts at the bookshop, but now I’m down to one 3 hour shift a fortnight – and I’m missing having money!
Luckily I got a call tonight from Eastlink and I start work tomorrow. Just admin and typing stuff I think, but it pays fairly well (about $23 an hour), so hopefully it goes well!
I went down to the beach a bit over summer (Inverloch, Lorne, Torquay and Rye) which was very fun, but makes me loathe even more the 40 degree days stuck in a lecture theater in Redmond Barry that doesn’t have air conditioning.
Speaking of redmond barry, I have a very bad trek across the uni from the law building to redmond barry. The 1st lecturer always goes over time and the 2nd lecture is so small that it’s completely obviouc when you come in AND everyone leaves gaps in the middle but no spare seats on the end!
Mmm, I’m quite all over the place tonight – it must be the heat (and loss of blood-i donated this morning) making me crazy.
I’ve also finally moved into a bedroom downstairs, which is newly painted and about 10 degrees cooler than anywhere else in the house and most inportantly…the furthest room from my mum!
I’ve been accepted by Melbourne Uni to go on exchange and so now I’m just waiting to hear from Dublin.
And that’s about it in my life!
On a final note: I’m currently listening to: The Dave Matthews Band, Angus and Julia Stone and the Wombats and Reading: Lumilla’s Broken English by DBC Pierre and about a million articles for all my subjects!
Too roo!
Heh. Last year we took Dispute Resolution as first-years with a bunch of fifth-years (syllabus change – the subject went from being a 5th year option to a 1st year compulsory). It was kind of nice because when we had group work I got put with relatively reliable people who knew what they were doing, but also not fun to be marked on a curve with people with a lot more experience.
Welcome back! =]
