So, it’s now week three of uni and already I feel like I’m drowning. When it gets to the stage where I have to schedule time to cut my fingernails, has it gone too far? Seriously, is anyone else this busy?
I have about 19 contact hours per week, give or take three hours or so. I have wushu twice a week (it’s really awesome by the way), I have MUCS once. That’s about another seven hours all together. I have never done two of my subjects before (physics and biology). Another subject I haven’t done for a year (maths). My last subject has a fair bit of reading (English).
So why do I feel so behind in basically everything? Does anyone else feel like this? Am I alone in the world?

Oh I feel the same. Don’t let it get you down.
I have never done anything resembling Biol. and I’m scared (it’s really beating me to death). Chemistry is extremely difficult (conceptually, the equations aren’t).
I’m behind on work but you have to ignore these things and focus on doing a bit at a time.
For example, I’m working on Biol. tute questions now 🙂
I can’t really empathise at all !
I have 13 contact hours (oh the life of a commerce student)
So things are pretty free. Even so, I find some of the new stuff that I’ve never seen really daunting. And the freedom kills me, procrastination is my one enemy.
I think because you’ve got so much new to you, its bogging you down a little and you’re a little lost? Just don’t be afraid to ask questions and clarify.
And you’re definitely not alone. Think Monash students doing 24-30 contact hours a week.
And to think at school we only did something like 22. *shudder*
I have 25 contact hours, along with 8 hours of work, 4 hours of volunteering and x hours of absolutely mandatory ‘hanging out with friends and not thinking very much about anything’ time per week. ‘Drowning’ really is the best word to describe it.
But I’m not alone! And you’re not alone! And knowing this – for me it somehow makes everything okay. (Eventually enough people will drown and we can climb their bodies to the surface).
Also, our lecturer insists that relaxing is an integral part of coping with our schoolwork, so don’t feel guilty going out (or cutting your nails!) every so often, I reckon. =)
