"Just in time" (Pris)
It’s taken me a while to figure these things out but did you know…
There’s a lift in Union House?! And I’ve been using the stairs this whole time…
Ohhh when they said to use your printing card, it’s the same thing as your student ID card.
Word documents have this awesome referencing thingo that lets you select what type of referencing you want and tells you to fill out all to fill out all these little boxes like author, title, etc? All you have to do is double click the reference and it cites or footnotes it for you in that place! It also gives you a bibliography at the end! Crazy, huh?!
Also, in the mac version anyway, there’s a function on Word that lets you type notes in sections and record the lecture so that when you revise, you can read your notes and listen to it all in the same document. Wow! (I love my mac)
The biggest lecture theatres seem to have the comfiest seats…not a good combination… oh, they also seem to be the lectures that enjoy dimming the lights for shorts clips off movies/documentaries…
Talking to mature aged students aren’t too bad after all! If you’re lucky enough to get one that doesn’t talk to you like you’re 5 yrs old (there’s about a 40% chance you’ll get one) they’re really helpful. I started talking to one this week who’s doing 3 of my 4 subjects this semester and he’s worked in the industry and everything so I got a lot of tips that they just don’t tell you in lectures! Kudos!
There’s only 2 weeks until the MPH Roadtrip?!!!!!! I’M SOOOOOOO EXCITED!!!!! Roadtrip, roadtrip, roadtrip… (Oh, and just a side note, we got a message saying that there might still be spots available! Get on it! ‘Twill be LEGEN…wait for it and you better not be lactose intolerant because the second half is…DAIRY!!! LEGENDARY!!!) *Happy dance*
Asking your tutor questions isn’t daunting, it’s useful. It wasn’t daunting ’cause I have a feeling they won’t really remember me.
Talking about pie (the food, not pi) to explain yourself in tutes can make you sound a little daft. Trust me, I tried.
…I should stop procrastinating now…
Ps. Hey Soul Sister – Train Ain’t that mister mister on the radio, stereo, the way you move ain’t fair you know?! Love this song : )
Pss. Yes, for any Switchfoot fans out there, they were UH-MAZING. He interacted so much with the audience, I knew all the songs, the audience were a good bunch AND he held my hands during one of the songs and sang THIS close to me. ‘Twas an incredible night, I have to say.
How do you get this amazing referencing thing going on in Word? Sounds like it could solve my MLA woes!
I dunno about pcs but on macs they’re in the toolbox or under the view dropdown menu along the top of the screen? D’ya know what I’m talking about at all? I hope it works for you because it BLEW MY MIND!!!
Hey, yeah, I’d like to second that comment about mature ages students. The lady/girl/woman I was talking to was doing part time, ie. two subjects (despairing that she was going to be studying for six years to complete her degree) but had some really interesting insights into life. She had moved out and gone state for uni when she finished school, but found it all too stressful, and in hindsight thought that she wasn’t mature enough for the leap to uni. It was somewhat inspiring to hear about her life and compare what she had experienced so far in life with my grand plans for my future.
Mature age students can feel a bit isolated among all us youngsters, but if you have the maturity to talk to them, they can give you a hand up from that little bubble you’ve been living in so far and let you really see that life has many optinons.
