Do you know what’s odd? I’ve finished this year, in many respects, in a similar way to how I started it. I’m tired, very much overworked, a little hung over, but full of nervous excitement.
I might leave most of the reflection on how much has changed / stayed the same for another entry. What I do want to say now is that I am proud of myself for achieving what I have this year, when it could have so easily gone the other way. Academically, I’ve exceeded my expectations of myself, especially this semester. Socially, I’ve met so many new people from such diverse backgrounds and formed new friendships. And personally, I’ve become a stronger, more balanced, independent person. Those who know me know how rare it is for me to feel accomplished. Today I do.
Later this month and early next year are going to be two exciting periods of chance, change and decision for a lot of young people across Australia. I know because I have been, and will again, be one of them. My advice, for what it’s worth: don’t be afraid to reach high, kidlets, or to step out of your comfort zone. Regardless of whether or not you succeed in anyone else’s eyes, you’re doing something many were too afraid to do.

have you decided whether you’re going to be going back to sydney yet?

Nah not yet. It all depends on what offers I get to study next year and I won’t know that until halfway through January.
That is great to feel proud of yourself – you definitely deserve it after such a challenging year.
Uni is so good for meeting different people, and I agree with you about becoming a stronger, more independent person!
It is truly amazing what one year at university can do to a person!
Best of luck with what you are hoping to do next year.

You too, Sophie. I hope you find a little more time to relax as well!
