A Dilemma (Georgie)

Suzanne, I’m feeling a bit guilty that we are dominating the blog. I do love reading your posts though.

I’m really loving college and am excited to get into study and societies and am sort of wishing that I applied for a year long exchange instead of just a semester. When I applied I was sure that I wouldn’t have enough money for a whole year, but now I’m looking at it, I might be able to work something out.

The downside would be that I am really keen to do the American History trip subject in the middle of next year, and I don’t know that I could justify doing it if I was in Ireland for a year. I would have absolutely no money to come home to. I am missing my mum a lot and would be really sad not to see my friends and family until may and I don’t think mum could afford to come visit me. I wouldn’t get to see as much of Europe as I had hoped and would only have a month off over christmas. My cousin is thinking of backpacking with me, so we most likely wouldn’t be able to do that. And the big problem: MONEY MONEY MONEY!!!

The upside: I would get to stay in Ireland for a whole year, and cement friendships, if that makes sense. There are some really good subjects I’d like to do next semester. There’s a bunch of really good rowing stuff I’d like to do, but I spose we’ll have to see if I’m any good at it yet. I’m tentatively thinking that I could spend a month just travelling around Italy, as I have a native willing to be a tourguide living with me. I also like to spend a bit of time in one country, rather than just seeing the main cities etc. My cousins plans are tentative and it all depends on how much money she has. And I still might be able to swing the American trip if I work out my money right.

So, after all that, I’ve decided to start applying for a year and have sent off a few e-mails. I figure it’s better to apply now as I can always pull out later, but it’s a lot harder to apply later. I haven’t told anyone back home yet as I’m only thinking about it and don’t know if I’ll be able to do it. I’m pretty sure that none of them read this blog, so phew! Anyway, we’ll see how it goes and leave it up to fate if I can stay or not!

 Bye for now.

PS. Last three days have been sunny, so sunny in fact that I got burnt. Who would’ve imagined?!

  1. We are, aren’t we? :O

On the other hand, maybe our constant posting will guilt trip the others into appearing more often 🙂

  2. OMG 1 MONTH IN ITALY WITH A NATIVE SPEAKER = DO IT DO IT DO IT!!!! (SOOOO jealous). Just came back from 2 weeks in Italy which wasn’t enough for me. I need to buy a villa in Tuscany near Florence or I will die unhappy!!! 😉 lol
