Irish Update (Georgie)
I feel I have been a bit absent from the blog of late, so hi again! And I hope everyone is going well in exams/last assignments. I am still in Dublin, where it is getting colder by the day. I have friends and family back in Melbourne telling me how nice the weather is getting, I’m so jealous!
And I have come to the conclusion that Melbourne does not have a real winter, it is a pseudo winter as you do not have to wear thermals and 7 layers of clothing outside.
Uni is going well, though, as usual, I am a bit behind on my work. Travelling is a lot better! Last weekend I went up to Belfast, which was so interesting. And then the one before that I took an extra long 5 day weekend and went to Paris – amazing! And the one before that I was in a town called Doolin in County Clare on the west coast of Ireland where I saw the world’s largest stalactite open to the public. All of this has been fantastic, but I am quickly running out of money and don’t know how I am going to make it until the end of Feb!
I went to the rowing ball last friday, which was very like a Melbourne Ball I think, but a bit messier. A guy threw up in a guiness glass on our table (though, it overflowed) and by the end of the night there was no toilet paper in the bathrooms, but plenty covering the floors.
Lots of dancing, which was nice as I’ve mostly been at bars since I’ve been overseas. And it was a treat not to have to cook my own dinner for once.
This weekend I am going to try to catch up on some work and get a couple of short essays knocked out of the way, and be a tourist in Dublin! I’m going to go to the jail and the viking exhibition and I might do a bus tour as well.
In unhappier news, my wallet was stolen when I was in the city yesterday so now I have to go through the process of replacing all my cards, buying a new one, and claiming it on my travel insurace. Sigh!
Bye for now 🙂
