Upcoming SoLL Event: SoLL Postgraduate Club’s Academic Reading Group

Hangyu Zhang

The SoLL Postgraduate Club is organising an academic reading group to allow thought-provoking discussions in terms of various topics in Applied Linguistics. On 30 August 2024, the reading group is going to hold its first event welcoming all PhD and MA students in Applied Linguistics from all institutions! Dive in, accumulating and inspiring new insights!

Michael Sadeghi Seraji from the SoLL Postgraduate Club, who proposed the academic reading group idea, shared his expectations:

“This Reading Group is designed to bring together MA and PhD students for collaborative discussions on a range of academic topics. The goal is to foster an environment where participants can critically engage with existing scholarship, generate innovative ideas, and contribute original insights, rather than merely repeating established knowledge.”

For the first event, the reading group will dive into the unique challenges and opportunities of bridging research and practice in diverse educational contexts. The event will be held in a hybrid mode, in-person at Babel Building and online via Zoom.
